Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Method

Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Simmer until the liquid reduces by half.
  5. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  6. Preheat another skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  7. Place two slices of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
  8. Layer on cheddar, then the beef mixture, followed by mozzarella. Top with remaining bread slices, butter side up.
  9. Grill each side for 3–4 minutes until golden and the cheese melts.
  10. Slice and serve warm. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave. Prepare the beef mixture ahead of time for quick dinners.
