Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup sour cream (for creamy flavor)
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese (for melty texture)
Seasoning and Thickeners
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (for a hint of herb flavor)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (for added flavor)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
Mixing
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Place one slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast.
  2. Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over each chicken breast and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  2. Allow the dish to stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Pound your chicken before baking for even cooking. Use Greek yogurt for a tangy twist or to reduce fat. Add spinach or mushrooms for more flavor. This dish keeps well in the fridge for about 3–4 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months — thaw and bake when ready.
