  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preference)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham or cooked bacon (optional) can be omitted for a vegetarian option
Flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  3. Grease a baking dish and layer the torn croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
  4. Sprinkle the diced ham or bacon (if using) and shredded cheese over the croissants.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over everything, ensuring all pieces are well soaked.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
  1. In the morning, remove the wrap and bake for 35-40 minutes until set and golden brown.
  2. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, do not rush the soaking process. You can also experiment with different cheeses or add vegetables like spinach for added nutrition.
