Preparation
- Slice the Italian bread or hoagie rolls in half lengthwise.
- Layer the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperoncini, olives, salami, ham, and provolone cheese inside the bread.
- Drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar, then sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Close the sandwich and press down gently.
- Slice and serve cold or at room temperature.
Notes
Letting the sandwich sit for a few minutes before slicing helps the flavors meld together. Serve with potato chips or a garden salad for crunch. Store leftovers in the fridge for 1-2 days.
