Preparation
- Heat the apple cider in a saucepan until it reduces by half.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and the reduced apple cider.
- Gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Cover the mixture and chill for about 30 minutes.
Cooking
- Roll the chilled dough and cut it into the desired donut shapes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the donuts until they are golden brown.
- While warm, toss the fried donuts in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Notes
Serve the donuts warm with a hot beverage or drizzle of caramel. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
