Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with regular flour for different flavor.
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar Sweetener that gives a mild flavor.
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Additional cinnamon for sprinkling.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce Can substitute with mashed bananas.
  • 1/4 cup almond milk Can use oat or coconut milk for variety.
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted For moisture in the batter.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Optional splash for flavor boost.
For Sprinkling
  • to taste Additional cinnamon and sugar Sprinkle over bites after baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the applesauce, almond milk, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract until well blended.
Mixing
  1. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  2. Scoop the batter using a small cookie scoop and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Once cooled, sprinkle with the additional cinnamon and sugar before serving.

Notes

Check churro bites at the 10-minute mark to avoid dryness. Can store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
