Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted (or other oil) Any mild oil will do; avoid olive oil.
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 large eggs Can use flax eggs for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour Can substitute with regular flour if desired.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Don't skip the spices!
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the wet ingredients: apple cider, applesauce, melted coconut oil, maple syrup (or honey), eggs, and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, sift together the dry ingredients: gluten-free flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full. Use a piping bag for less mess.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Once done, let them cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, a drizzle of glaze, or chocolate sauce.
  2. Dip them in coffee for an ultimate cozy experience.
