Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Use light or dark brown sugar.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted if preferred.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Unsweetened for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Ensure it's fresh.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  2. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or ice cream for an extra indulgent treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature or refrigerate for a week. Cookie dough can be prepared in advance and chilled before baking.
