Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
For Frying
  • Vegetable oil For frying
  • Powdered sugar For dusting (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, mix sugars, apple cider, egg, and melted butter until combined.
  3. Combine wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Dust the work surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out donut shapes.
Frying
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fry donuts in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days. For longer storage, refrigerate.
