Easy Gluten Free Artisan Bread

Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 3.5 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon xanthan gum Use only 2 teaspoons if using a flour blend with xanthan gum.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 eggs eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the warm water, yeast, and sugar until dissolved. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it’s nice and frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, the yeasted water, xanthan gum, vinegar, and eggs. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands.
  3. Cover the dough and let it sit on your counter for about 50 minutes until it is puffed.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and place a Dutch oven inside as it heats up.
  2. Place a piece of parchment paper on your counter and dust it with gluten-free flour. Scrape your dough out of the bowl and form it into a ball.
  3. Slice a couple of small cuts on the top of your dough.
  4. Place the dough (with parchment paper) into your hot Dutch oven.
  5. Bake covered for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes for that perfect crust.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Tips: Use room temperature ingredients for a better rise. Try different gluten-free flours for unique flavors. Don’t rush the resting time.
