Ingredients
  

For the cider
  • 8 cups Apple cider Use unsweetened if watching sugar.
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 medium Oranges Sliced
  • 6 whole Cloves
  • 3 sticks Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole Star anise
  • 1/2 cup Brandy Optional, for adults
  • to taste Sugar Optional, to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large crockpot, combine apple cider and water.
  2. Slice the oranges and add them to the pot along with cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
  3. If desired, add sugar to taste.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until hot.
  5. Just before serving, stir in brandy if using.
  6. Strain before serving and enjoy warm.
Serving
  1. Pour generous servings into mugs and garnish with fresh orange slices or a cinnamon stick.
  2. Optional: Rim the mugs with sugar for a fancier touch.

Notes

Store any leftovers in the fridge for about 3-5 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the crockpot. Feel free to experiment with spices or add extra fruits like sliced apples or pears.
