Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Arrange the bread slices in the baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring all slices are soaked.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Baking
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on top.
- Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy, golden crust.
- Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for about 3 days. Reheat in the oven until warm. For freezing, wrap tightly in cling film and keep for up to 2 months.
