Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 6 pieces Fresh apples (mix of sweet and tart) Use a variety like Fuji and Granny Smith for the best flavor.
  • 3 pieces Cinnamon sticks For that warm, cozy spice.
  • 5 pieces Cloves A pinch for added depth.
  • 1 pieces Orange Adds a citrusy twist.
  • 6 cups Water To cover the apples halfway.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (optional) Add if you prefer a sweeter cider.

Method

Preparation
  1. Core and slice the fresh apples.
  2. In a large pot, combine the sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange slices.
  3. Add enough water to cover the apples halfway and bring to a boil.
Cooking
  1. Reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, mashing the apples with a potato masher occasionally.
  2. After 2 hours, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher.
  3. Sweeten with sugar if desired. Taste it first before adding.
  4. Serve hot or chill for a refreshing drink.

Notes

Enjoy your cider warm, and consider garnishing with a cinnamon stick. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 5-7 days, or freeze for longer storage.
