Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 box Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup Butter Unsalted butter preferred
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips Can use dark chocolate for richer flavor
Optional Toppings
  • 1 cup Nuts Chopped nuts are optional
  • 1 cup Candy canes Crushed for festive garnish
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt For added flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
Cooking
  1. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  2. Pour the melted mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  5. Let it sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle with nuts, crushed candy canes, or sea salt.
  7. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces and serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can be frozen for a month if well-wrapped.
