Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef You can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based meat.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Used for sautéing.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with other cheese varieties.
For Wrapping
  • 1 package egg roll wrappers

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil, diced onions, and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook and crumble the beef until it's no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  4. Remove the beef mixture from the heat and transfer it to a bowl. Allow it to cool slightly, then fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface and wet the edges with water. Place a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly, sealing the top edge with a bit more water.
Cooking
  1. In a clean skillet, add enough oil to cover the bottom and heat it over medium-high heat.
  2. Carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove the egg rolls from the skillet and place them on a napkin-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with zesty dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or BBQ sauce for a delicious pairing. These can be prepared ahead of time and fried just before serving. For storage, refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze in an airtight container.
