Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 6 cups sliced apples Use a mix of varieties for best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the crumb topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional toppings

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix well, then pour into a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, baking powder, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbly.
  2. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Notes

For best results, use a mix of apples and feel free to add nuts or spices according to taste. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or freeze for longer storage.
