Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Coating
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the apple cider, granulated sugar, applesauce, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Baking
  1. Fill each donut mold about 2/3 full with the batter.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
  4. Roll the warm donuts in cinnamon sugar to coat and serve immediately.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the fridge for about a week. Reheat before serving.
